The LOYS will include the plenary report "THz Imaging" given by Prof. Xi-Cheng Zhang - well-known specialist in the field of generation, detection, and applications of free-space THz beams with ultrafast optics.

Dr. Zhang received 26 US patents, published 23 books and book chapters, authored and co-authored over 300 reviewed scientific papers, delivered over 400 colloquia, seminars, invited conference presentations, and 300 contributed talks (since 1990).

He is a Lifetime Fellow of IEEE, OSA, and APS.

 All participants are welcome to join the Round table for OSA, SPIE and IEEE members where we will discuss benefits provided by these societies and possible collaboration projects we can do together (no membership is required, if you are interested - feel free to join us!)

LOYS‘ 2012 continues a series of meetings for young scientists organized in cooperation with internationally recognized conference Laser Optics. Our conference provides a forum for young talented physicists (up to 35 years old) just entering the world of science or already actively working there.

Young scientists are invited to present their works in the form of oral and poster presentations. This year the topics of the sessions will coincide with the topics of conference Laser Optics 2012 and young scientists will be given an opportunity to present the result of their work to the world-known distinguished scientists in the area of laser physics, photonics and optical engineering.

A special selection committee formed of the Program Committee members will pick up the best presentation for each section and award them with special diplomas.
